T-Mobile, Sprint announce possible delays for Samsung Galaxy S III

gsiii - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

Samsung has seen tremendous success with its Galaxy S line of phones, so the company decided to expand that line with the Galaxy S III. Unfortunately, that success seems to have caused a problem for Samsung: both Sprint and T-Mobile announced today that their versions of the phone may see delays due to customer demand.

Sprint explained to The Verge what its customers should expect. Here is part of that release:

We are optimistic that we’ll be shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-16GB pre-orders this week and that they will be delivered by June 21 as anticipated. There is a chance, however, that we may be a day or two late. We anticipate shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-32GB pre-orders next week. To check the status of your pre-order, please visit www.sprint.com/myorder.

T-Mobile is also facing problems regarding deliveries. “Customer demand will exceed the expected launch quantity available,” the company said to TmoNews. T-Mobile didn’t tell its customers whether their phones will ship on the originally-planned date; rather, the company stated that only 29 markets will see a launch on June 21st – and only “a limited amount” will be available online. The rest of the US will see a launch on June 27th, which is next Friday.

I hate to see delays for any device, but I do think a delay caused by popularity is better than a delay caused by the company itself. And, to be fair, these two carriers are promising availability everywhere for the week after the original launch date. At least it’s not longer than seven days.

Do these two delays affect any of you?
