Fix your bricked S-OFF HTC EVO 4G LTE

brick small - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereIf you’re one of the unlucky few who happened to brick their HTC EVO 4G LTE in the process of gaining S-OFF, you can all breath a collective sigh of relief. Developer Globatron has developed a tool that will unbrick your device, with a claimed 100% success rate during testing.

I remember Globatron as being invaluable to the EVO View 4G community, especially around the time that this tablet got its Honeycomb upgrade, so I’m happy to see the developer hard at work on the latest EVO phone.

What’s the only caveat? The unbricking tool only works on Linux, and Globatron has already said not to expect a Windows or Mac version. You can be running Linux from a live CD or live USB drive, but virtual machines aren’t supported. The 32-bit version of Ubuntu 12.04 is also strongly recommended.

In any case, if you’ve got access to a Linux machine and you’re stuck with a bricked EVO 4G LTE, give this a try and let us know how it works for you.
