Google to start selling Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean next week

gnex gone1 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

On Tuesday, Google pulled the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store as a result of a ban that was set in place by Apple. Today, the Galaxy Nexus is still gone – but according to ABC News, there is light at the end of this dark tunnel, a tunnel that we’ll be out of next week.

Google told ABC that the Galaxy Nexus was indeed pulled from the Play Store due to that software patent issue but that the phone will be available again next week – running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

This obviously means that existing Samsung Nexus devices will also be receiving the latest sweet treat from Google at some point next week. If you own a Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus, I recommend to keep checking your System Update panel in your system settings until you see it pop up. I know that’s exactly what I’ll be doing for the majority of next week.

If you don’t own or want a Nexus phone, you may be interested in the Nexus 7. While its Google Play page says “Ships in 2 – 3 weeks,” I can’t help but wonder if it’ll be shipped any sooner because Google’s hand was forced to release Jelly Bean as quickly as possible.
