HBO GO is now available on all Android tablets

One of my favorite streaming services by far is HBO GO – it’s got great HBO shows that I love, like True Blood and Game of Thrones, and some really awesome movies that Netflix instant streaming only wishes it could get its hands on. Unfortunately, I’ve been restricted to watching it on my HTC EVO 4G LTE, which only has a 4.7-inch screen (perfect for some things, but not for movies and TV shows), or on my big and bulky laptop.

However, that all changes now, as HBO GO just got an update in the Play Store that expands compatibility to all Android tablets running up to Android 4.0.4. That includes my trusty EVO View 4G and my current favorite, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

Previously, I tried several times to watch HBO GO on my EVO View or my Transformer Prime through the service’s Flash-based web portal. It worked decently on the Transformer Prime, although that device can act buggy when playing Flash for a long time and randomly reboot. My EVO View, on the other hand, was simply too slow to handle everything that the HBO site was trying to throw at it.

So for me, this is really exciting news, as I can now get my HBO fix on any device I want, not just a small phone screen or bulky laptop. This has truly been a long time coming – if you also have access to HBO GO, make sure to grab the update today.
