We’ve known for quite some time that NVIDIA has been hard at work on a solution, and that it eventually plans to release quad-core Tegra chips that are compatible with LTE. And now it looks like we are one step closer to that goal. According to data published by GLBenchmark, HTC has been running benchmarks on an unreleased LTE-compatible device with a quad-core Tegra 3 chip clocked at 1.7GHz. It’s got a 720p HD display, but there’s no indication as to the size. It’s also still running Ice Cream Sandwich, but since this is most likely an internal testing device, it seems likely that it would probably be running Jelly Bean by the time it is released.
The most important question that remains is whether or not HTC is planning to release this mystery device in the near future, or if it will wait until its current lineup has matured a bit. For those of you with an EVO 4G LTE or a One X, are you happy with the processing speed that your device has now, or would you jump at the chance for some quad-core goodness?
