Sprint officially confirms the white HTC EVO 4G LTE

Sprint has officially confirmed availability of the HTC EVO 4G LTE in white, saying the device will be released on July 15 and sell for $199.99. We first reported on this rumor back in June, when leaked images of an internal device listing surfaced from the depths of Sprint.

Unlike the white versions of the original EVO 4G or the EVO 3D, it does not appear that any third-party retailers will have exclusive access to the device; rather, it appears to be quite the opposite: Sprint says that its own sales channels will carry the white EVO 4G LTE, including telesales and online.

Now that it’s official, only one question remains: are you picking one up for yourself?

Sprint’s full press release appears below.

What this really means is if the white Evo LTE comes with the 1.22 OTA already applied, the current method of gaining S-OFF won’t work on it.

Glad I didn’t use any of my upgrades for the black evo lte. I bought the phone of contract from someone, gave him my galaxy s2 and some cash. This time I’m more interested in the white model. This must have been the official evo lte, I never really liked the black model, if it didn’t have any red on it would have been the most boring phone. This however in white looks more classy and will definitely stand out.

I was on the sprint website today. I hadn’t kept up on EVO news since i got my Black 4G LTE upon release. The sprint website tells me that this is an international phone, whereas the Black 4G LTE is not. Is this a glitch on their website? Does this mean the White EVO 4G LTE has GSM capabilities via a sim card like the Motorola Photon?
