Stock ICS Contacts and Phone app now available on rooted HTC EVO 4G LTE

While HTC EVO 4G LTE owners wait for an official, fully-functioning version of CyanogenMod 9, users can at least play around with the stock Ice Cream Sandwich Contacts and Phone apps. Fastmikey1969 pulled both apk files and made them available for download at the link below, although there are some things you should know.

In the Phone app, T9 dialing doesn’t work – this is the feature that automatically looks up contacts as you’re dialing their number or spelling their name. Additionally, pictures in the Contacts app are low-resolution, and third-party fixes like HaxSync don’t seem to work yet.

However, if this doesn’t deter you, and you are looking to get at least a little taste of stock Android on your Sense device, just copy those apks into your system/apps folder, change their permissions to match the rest of the apps in that folder, and you should be set.
