SuperCID for the HTC EVO 4G LTE may allow flashing back to older firmware
If you took the OTA for the HTC EVO 4G LTE and now you’re having buyer’s remorse, well you may be in luck. It appears that a method being called SuperCID will allow you to flash RUUs of older versions onto the phone, effectively allowing you to use older exploit methods to unlock your phone.
At the moment, it’s a fairly involved set of steps that you have to go through to get your phone back to an older OTA base, but if you’re fed up with being S-ON, it may just be the only thing you can do at the moment to get S-OFF.
As the method is in its infancy, I would advise a bit of waiting to see if anyone manages to brick their phones via this method or if someone comes out with an easier automated program over the weekend before rushing in headfirst to get S-OFF. If you do happen to try it, please let us know how it worked for you.
At least there’s hope for those who feel like they’re stuck, and it’s come very very quickly!
Update: it does not allow for reverting hboot, it could be a useful tool still though.
