Amazon press event on September 6: New Amazon Kindles or Kindle phone?

When someone talks to me about Amazon, so many things run through my mind – the word “Amazon” is synonymous with so many things. The company is a hardware manufacturer; a software developer and seller; and an online retailer; all wrapped into one mega-company.

So when Amazon sent out invitations to a September 6 press conference, a lot of thoughts popped into my head. Could this be the unveiling of the rumored Amazon Kindle Phone? Is it where the company will introduce a successor to the popular Kindle Fire?

Whatever it is, it will likely have something to do with Android, as many popular Android media outlets are getting the press invitations. If it was an announcement for an e-ink Kindle, Android sites wouldn’t be getting invitations. But exactly what Android announcement will be made is yet to be seen; there are rumors about new Kindle Fires and also that Kindle Phone – all likely running Amazon’s forked version of Android.

Right now, I think the event is going to be focused on new Kindles. Rumors about Amazon’s smartphone have been few and far between, whereas rumors about Amazon’s next Kindles seem to be in the news much more often. Personally, I think that there will be an update to the 7-inch Fire, naturally, but that there might also be a larger 10-inch model added to the lineup, as well.

Provided that the event is indeed being held to introduce new Kindles, what do you expect to see?
