Could the HTC EVO 4G LTE get an OTA update today? [Update: Nope]
Rumors are flying around on several EVO forums that the HTC EVO 4G LTE might receive an OTA update at some point today. The most detailed information we could find was posted in Android Central’s forums, from a person who claims to work for Sprint. This is supposedly copied from an internal Sprint support forum, although we have not been able to confirm its validity:
Evo 4G LTE software update coming next week
Customer Initiated: 8/22/12, Available via Network Push: 8/28/12
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Browser randomly closes from bookmarks
- Minor Bluetooth fix
- Latest version of Google Wallet
- LTE scanning improvement
This certainly isn’t the Jelly Bean update we’re all waiting for, and it’s not even Android 4.0.4, which brought some welcome enhancements to the almost-identical HTC One X. But still, an update is an update, and I know of more than a few people who would be very happy about any and all Bluetooth and LTE improvements.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll be checking that update button all day long. After all, it’s been quite a while since the EVO launched in June, and we’ve only had one OTA update so far. Aren’t we due for another?
[Android Forums]Updated: Well, the day has come and gone, and we still haven’t gotten an update. We’ll certainly keep hitting that update button, though.
