A solid-state drive (SSD) is the single best way to boost the performance of any computer. I should know – I bought one and put it into my dying MacBook Pro, instantly giving it a new lease on life. Unfortunately, they are a bit on the expensive side for some people, which is why they haven’t really taken off just yet.

At that price, I’m seriously considering another purchase – or two. It would save me a healthy sum of money for any computer that needs a speed boost in the future, like my current Mac mini or my possible PC build.
