Google launches official Android blog

jelly bean small - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereGoogle has just announced that it has launched its own official Android blog, which will be separate from the Official Google Mobile Blog. It’s set up at officialandroid.blogspot.com, and should become a source of major announcements and news related to all things Android.

Here’s the official announcement:

A few months ago, we asked what content you wanted to see more of on the Google Mobile Blog, and the answer was quite clear: more Android! We launched +Android on Google+ and now we’ve launched the Official Android Blog, a new place for you to find all the latest news from the Android team.

Going forward, the new Android Blog will be a must-read for anyone interested in the latest news like today’s Google Wallet announcement. Thanks for being such a great audience over the years.

The new blog already has quite a backlog of previous Android-related posts that were originally posted on the Mobile blog, but most of it has been previously covered on Pocketables. The only thing that has left me scratching my head is: why didn’t Google do this earlier?

Of course, we’ll be keeping our eyes on the new blog here at Pocketables, and you can expect us to pass on any major announcements that we see. But if you’re the type who likes to get your news from both primary and secondary sources, you’ll definitely want to add this to your list.
