Samsung released the current Googlephone, the Galaxy Nexus, in November of last year. It’s still a fantastic phone: it runs the latest version of Android well, keeping the system very snappy and smooth. Still, some apps are starting to show just how old the hardware really is.
New Nexus devices from a variety of manufacturers are rumored to be coming out soon, and today, there is a rumor about Samsung’s next one. According to a leaked spec sheet, the new Galaxy Nexus – simply called “Nexus” at this point – will have quite a few upgraded internals to make an already great phone even better.
For starters, the current dual-core Cortex-A9 processor’s clock speed will be bumped up from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz. Next to get an upgrade is the 5MP camera, which will be bumped to 8MP. If you own a Galaxy Nexus, you’ll know that the camera is absolutely horrible; any upgrade there would help significantly, and a 3MP jump should certainly do just that. Finally, this new Nexus is said to include an SD slot – a godsend, to say the least.
