Sprint will give away free extended batteries for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on 8/19

free nexus battery - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

If you have Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and are less than thrilled with the handset’s battery life, Sprint might have just the solution you’ve been waiting for: on Sunday, August 19, the carrier will give away a free extended battery to any customer with the device who asks for one.

This offer will be available online with a coupon code (we don’t know what the coupon code is yet), or via Telesales without a coupon code. No other purchase is required, in essence saving you $49.99. The only catch is that you have to pay for shipping.

This honestly couldn’t have come at a better time. My partner literally just ordered a Galaxy Nexus, since we were due for an upgrade on that line and we were able to snag it for free during a promotion that ended last Monday. I’ve been playing around with the Galaxy Nexus all day, and while I haven’t gotten a chance to really get a good feel for the battery life, I’ve heard lots of negative comments about it. This offer is a good move on Sprint’s part that will hopefully rectify the problem for a lot of people.

It’s only good while supplies last, though, so you’ll have to pick up the phone bright and early Sunday morning and call Sprint to get in on the action before the batteries are all gone.
