Apple releases OS X Lion 10.7.5, adds Gatekeeper

lion - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

There are definitely some of you who use Macs and haven’t updated to Mountain Lion yet. Honestly, I don’t blame you: I’d like to be able to use my MacBook for a longer time than a scant three hours. Of course, I update my devices as quickly as possible so I can stay up to date with the latest software updates.

Luckily for those of you still running Lion, Apple’s giving you that privilege, as well. Yesterday, on top of iOS 6 and 10.8.2, Apple released Lion 10.7.5. The major reason for the update is bug fixes, but the company also added Gatekeeper, a security feature that allows you to select from where you can install what applications: from anywhere, the Mac App Store and identified developers, or just the App Store.

If you choose to update through Software Update from your Mac, your file size will vary; however, you can also download the update from Apple’s website, where it will weigh in at 1.14GB or 1.91GB for the update or the combo update, respectively.
