Google Nexus 7 $25 Play Store promo ends September 30

google play store gift cards - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

The Nexus 7 tablet is, in and of itself, a great deal for some awesome Android hardware, as I found in my review. However, to make the deal even sweeter, Google has been offering a $25 Play Store credit to users who purchase the device. This is to encourage users to buy from the Play Store, and hopefully begin using the entire Google ecosystem. Unfortunately, that promotion won’t last forever, as we just found out today.

According to an official Google Nexus tweet, the promotional offer will be ending on September 30, less than two weeks from now. Nothing will change with the Nexus; users just won’t get the extra $25 credit when they buy the tablet after the cutoff date.

Some seem to think that this move could be in preparation for the release of a 3G Nexus 7, but I don’t really think so. Even if that tablet is in fact in the works, I think this is simply Google ending a promotion that they realistically couldn’t have continued forever. Anyways, the countdown should provide a good incentive for buyers on the fence to pick up a tablet, whether you buy one or win one.
