Apple holding event on October 23, iPad mini announcement expected

ipadmini - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

As the rumor mill has been suggesting for quite some time, Apple will indeed be holding an event next week, October 23.

The announcement came by way of invitations that were sent out by the company, wherein the date and location of the event were located. As with most Apple invites, direct details about what will be announced are nowhere to be found – but there are a few hints.

The first one is the color scheme of the invitation. If you can remember all the way back to the first-generation iPad event’s invitations, you’ll recall that Apple used blots of paint to signify the creativity of the iPad. Those colors – and, in a way, the blots – are represented on this invitation, too. The second clue is the tagline, which reads: “We’ve got a little more to show you.” A “little more” is almost a perfect match for a smaller iPad, which is what this event will likely be centered on.

Taking this into consideration, I think it’s clear that a new iPad mini will be introduced next week.

Of course, Apple probably has some other announcements, too. I can’t imagine this event won’t include some talk of iOS 6’s Maps conundrum – although in what capacity CEO Tim Cook and colleagues will talk about it, I have no idea. There are also rumors of a new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro being made available next week, too.

I have to say, this is the fall Apple event that I’ve been waiting for. I love my new iPad to death, but its large size can be a bother at some points. And after having played with an ASUS Google Nexus 7 and a few other Android tablets, the only tablet that would get me to switch from an iPad is an iPad mini.
