Hurricane Sandy also affects the tech world; send us your pictures!
The wrath of Hurricane Sandy can be felt not only along the eastern seaboard of the US, but in the tech world, as well. Google has cancelled its Nexus event in New York City, in which it was expected to announce a refreshed version of the Nexus 7 with more storage and possibly even 3G connectivity. Google was also expected to announce a new LG Nexus 4 phone, and a Samsung-made 10-inch Nexus 10 tablet. There’s no word on when Google will reschedule this event.
T-Mobile’s event that was also scheduled for today is cancelled, too. Due to the timing, speculation was that T-Mobile’s event was related to Google’s, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we know for sure.
In the meantime, Microsoft is going forward with its Windows Phone 8 launch event in San Francisco today, and our own William Devereux will be on hand to give us live coverage.
However, if you are currently in the path of Hurricane Sandy, we’d like to see what you’re seeing. If it’s safe for you to do so, go ahead and send us some pics you’ve shot with your phone, tablet, or other gadget. You can post them on our Facebook, Google+, or Twitter pages, or email them directly to me – and tell us what device you used to shoot your pics. If we get enough, we’ll publish some of the best a few days from now.
Of course, your safety should be your first priority. During this dangerous storm, you should always listen to your local government officials, law enforcement, and emergency workers.
