The long-awaited Jelly Bean update for the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 is rolling out to US owners right now, bumping up Android’s OS number to 4.1.1 and the ASUS build number up to 10.4.4.16. Along with Google Now and Project Butter, this update adds some nice user interface enhancements, transitions, and general performance improvements.
I’ve confirmed that, in spite of the warning message you get right before installing the update, Adobe Flash works just fine, as long as it is installed prior to the update. If anything, Flash even functions a bit more smoothly than before. Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, in conjunction with SuperSU, also keeps root, in case you have rooted your tablet on Ice Cream Sandwich.
WiFi Direct capabilities are removed, but ASUS also adds to new apps: MyDictionary and MyBitCast, which is a note-taking service a la Evernote that syncs with your ASUS WebStorage. Supposedly, PressReader is removed in this update, although it still appears among the apps I have installed. If it does happen to be removed after you update, it’s easy to reinstall from Google Play.
In case you’re wondering, the GPS version was also updated to 7.9.11 (formerly 6.9.19); WiFi is now 7.2.0.24 (formerly 6.2.1.40); Bluetooth is 10.31 (formerly 9.37); and the kernel is now 3.1.10 (formerly 2.6.39.4).
