Angry Birds Star Wars, Space now available on Windows Phone 7.5

Angry Birds Star Wars and Space - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

We have good news for fans of Star Wars and/or Angry Birds. True to its word, Rovio has added Windows Phone 7.5 to the list of supported platforms for Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars, allowing people with older Windows Phones to join in on the fun.

Angry Birds Space, of course, was one of the first games available on Windows Phone 8, while Angry Birds Star Wars was the first mobile game to simultaneously launch on every major platform, including Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Unfortunately, neither game was supposed on older versions of Windows Phone until now, since Rovio and its development partner needed a little more time. That turned out to be just over a month for Space and almost one month to the day for Star Wars.

There is, however, a downside. For some reason, the Windows Phone 7.5 versions of these games are not Xbox LIVE-enabled, so you won’t be able to unlock achievements and work your way up the leaderboards. This might not be a huge deal for some people, but it was certainly an odd and disappointing choice.

With every version of Windows Phone finally supported, Rovio can hopefully turn its attention toward getting that Hoth update out the door.
