HTC EVO 3D receives OTA update to 2.95.651.4
If you thought that long-anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich update was the last update the HTC EVO 3D would ever see, think again: Sprint is getting ready to release another OTA update, this time bumping the software version up to 2.95.651.4.
It still appears to be running the same version of Android, but it will also include the Sprint Connections Optimizer – that annoying little piece of software that attempts to automatically connect to WiFi hotspots as you go about your day. (Don’t worry; you can turn it off if you hate it.) There are also two named bug fixes:
- AVI Files unable to stream or play via DLNA
- Launching Messaging app loading time
Sprint says that the update won’t be available until 2/21, but that doesn’t mean people won’t get it early – to check manually, just head to your settings and select System updates > Software update. And be sure to let us know if you notice any other changes or enhancements.
On a related note, this comes just a few days after the original EVO 4G got an OTA update after almost a year of nothing. Could this be a sign of HTC and Sprint’s devotion to older devices, or just a coincidence? I’ll let you be the judge.
[Sprint] Thanks, Simon!
