Rumor: Amazon’s Kindle Phone will be released in Q2 2013

We’ve been talking about this for ages now, but if we’re to believe the latest rumors, Amazon will be ready to start selling its Kindle Phone sometime in the second quarter of 2013. This is according to a report from DigiTimes, who cites those infamous “unnamed sources” – so be sure to take this with a hefty serving of salt.

Still, the rumor does sound quite interesting: it will reportedly have a 4.7-inch screen, and Amazon is working on enhancing other specifications of the phone, as well. The internet retailer had originally planned on using a 4.3-inch screen, but decided against it after seeing consumer demand on the rise for bigger phones.

We don’t really know much else at this point, so feel free to throw down your own personal wishlists in the comments. In any case, I personally know of several people who refuse to any Android tablet unless it’s a Kindle, so I’m wondering if similar attitudes exist in the phone arena. Those of you with iPhones or Windows Phones, would an Amazon Kindle Phone that’s priced right – and has decent specifications – sway you when it’s time to make your next phone purchase? Should Apple and Microsoft start worrying, given the success of Amazon’s Kindle tablets?
