24 carat gold HTC One on sale for almost $3000

Gold HTC One

If you’ve got money to throw around like no one’s business, then check this out: GoldGenie has released a gold-plated HTC One that starts at £1,895, or about $2,900. It comes in a luxury cherry oak finished box with Beats Audio earphones, and it’s SIM unlocked, allowing you to use it on practically any GSM network in the world.

And in case you don’t think $2,900 is enough to spend on your next smartphone, you’ll be happy to see that this comes in two other variants, as well – you can select rose gold for £1995 (about $3,100) or platinum for £2095 (about $3,200).

GoldGenie has raised a few eyebrows in the tech world for selling other popular phones plated in gold, including Apple’s iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4. The company even says it can plate any phone you want in gold – just call ahead for an estimate.

I’m honestly not sure what’s more ridiculous: buying a gold-plated HTC One, or just setting fire to that big wad of cash.
