Google Play Store finally starts selling case for Chromebook Pixel – but it’s not what I expected

booq hardcase for Pixel

Google has finally started selling a case for the Chromebook Pixel in the Google Play Store, although it’s not quite what I expected. Listed as a “booq Viper Hardcase for Chromebook Pixel,” it actually looks like the booq Viber Hardcase 13, which is designed “exclusively for the Macbook Air 13-inch”

In fact, the dimensions are exactly the same, which makes me almost certain that this is the same case. And to be completely honest, I’m a little disappointed that this wasn’t designed or at least revised for the Chromebook Pixel – when the rumor first broke that the Play Store would begin selling a case, I thought it would be something a little more special than a repurposed Macbook Air accessory.

Still, this looks like a very premium case for the very premium Pixel: Google describes it as having a “[t]ough, water-resistant 1680D cross-weave ballistic nylon exterior and a soft, non-scratch interior lining,” and it’s gotten generally good reviews on Amazon, too. I’m personally undecided on whether or not I’ll pick one up myself, but at least the option is now there for me.
