International HTC One gets OTA update to 2.24.709.1, Android 4.2.2
Users in Taiwan began reporting earlier today that Android 4.2.2 has started rolling out to their devices. Coming in at a whopping 465.24MB, this is a huge update that also bumps the HTC software version up to 2.24.709.1. While HTC has yet to release an official changelog, we can gather the following from the update screen:
System
– Launcher bar enhancement
– Widget panel rearrangement
– New Lock screen style widget
– Enhanced Home button behavior
– Home button options added to make navigation menu bar removablePower
– Show battery level in status bar
Notifications
– Quick settings panel: 12 default settings by new touch gesture
Gallery/Camera
– AE/AF lock feature: Lock Exposure/Focus on viewfinder screen
This looks to be a very significant update that brings massive improvements to the device. Of course, this update is only rolling out to the international version of the HTC One, and there’s no telling how long customers in the US on Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile will have to wait. Hopefully the carriers have learned their lesson about lengthy update approval times, and it will be here before we know it.
