PSA: Yahoo News videos broken for most Chrome OS users (it’s not just you)

Yahoo news video

If you’re wondering why Yahoo News videos don’t seem to be working on your Chrome OS device, don’t worry – it’s not just you. Reports have been popping up across social media sites complaining of problems when viewing videos on Yahoo’s news site. Performing a powerwash does not seem to fix the issue, and it’s unclear whether or not this only affects users on certain channels or if this is a universal problem across stable, beta, and dev channels.

Unfortunately, at this point, if you are experiencing this issue, there is not much you can do to fix it. Similar to earlier problems that plagued Spotify web users on the Chromebook Pixel, it looks like this is an issue on Yahoo’s end. At the very least, you can rest assured that you haven’t done anything wrong, and wait patiently for a solution.

While it’s always disappointing to see Chrome OS users experience issues like these – issues that never seem to plague Windows or Mac users on the same level as Chrome OS users – it’s understandable, since the OS is so young. With any kind of cutting edge technology, there are bound to be growing pains. Luckily, Google is fully committed to working through them, so hopefully Yahoo’s issues will be resolved soon enough.
