HTC’s Peter Chou is apparently in it for the long haul

chouRemember how Peter Chou said he would step down if the HTC One isn’t a success? Well, despite low sales in the month of August, signal issues, and increased competition from the likes of LG and Samsung, Chou isn’t going anywhere.

In spite of continued rumors of factions within HTC that may try to oust the controversial leader, HTC chairwoman Cher Wang stated that Chou “has done a great job” and that HTC has no plans to remove him from his current post. She continued by stressing that everyone in the company, including herself, must have realistic expectations while continuing to move forward and coping with the various challenges that exist in the smartphone market.

Wang went on to state, “HTC has many innovative products and will continue to work to introduce our excellent products to everyone in the world.”

Although HTC tries to paint a rosy picture, shares have fallen 45% since the beginning of the year, with August revenue dropping 47% from the same time last year. To be completely honest, it looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors to me.
