With the Nexus 4 now sold out, have a look at the Nexus 5

At the beginning of this month, the 8GB LG Nexus 4 sold out in the Google Play store after a sizable price reduction. Now, the 16GB Nexus 4 is permanently sold out as well, and the reign of the Nexus 4 has, for all intents and purposes, come to an end.

There is no time to mourn, however, since the announcement of the next version of Android, 4.4 KitKat, details on the Nexus 5 have been flowing quite freely. First, the actual KitKat announcement accidentally revealed the back of the Nexus 5 next to the Nexus 4, conveniently enough.

After that, the FCC provided a better look of the Nexus 5 on all sides. as seen in the image above. These images confirmed that the device seen in the KitKat video was in fact real and the new LG Nexus device, in addition to showing a 2,300mAh battery and NFC back cover.

However, the latest leak from just today is much more fun. According to the reports, a Google employee left the Nexus 5 unattended in a bar, and the bartender acquired the pictures and video. Regardless of the story, the new media gives us an even clearer look at the Nexus 5.

The images show the same Nexus 5 that previous leaks revealed, essentially confirming the final or nearly final design. In addition, the videos show a new boot animation running on the device, but interestingly the OS does not look too different from Jelly Bean. Perhaps the device isn’t yet running KitKat, or maybe KitKat won’t look very different from the Android 4.3 that we already know.

With the numerous leaks that have occurred in the past few weeks, it seems safe to say that the official release of the Nexus 5 should be happening any time now. With all these separate sources showing the same device, it would also be reasonable to expect the final device to look a lot like what we have already seen. We still don’t know about the specifications of the next Nexus, but hopefully we won’t have to rely on leaks and rumors for much longer.
