Edge: Quick Actions brings recent apps, music controls, more to your fingertips
Edge: Quick Actions is a slide-out dock that contains several quick toggles for data, sound, WiFi, and flashlight, along with a recent apps list, on-screen home and drawer keys, and music controls that can be accessed from within any application. No more exiting Ingress to go and turn off WiFi in settings after you’ve wandered too close to yet another access point called Linksys. Just slide from the edge, and the controls will overlay whatever app you’re currently in.
You can reorder the quick action controls, change how many recent applications you want displayed, and otherwise set it up to have what you need to access constantly at your fingertips at all times. If there was a notification drawer included in the thing, I’d start feeling that it was a bit Halo-esque – at least the part of Halo where you can define things to always be at your fingertips, if not the pop up applications in a floating window way.
Edge: Quick Actions is free, although a pro version is available and is required to access a few of the options (such as expanding the number of recent apps listed, switching the launching edge from left to right, and changing the color scheme). It requires Android 4.0+ and is still under active and early development.
