Sprint HTC One updated to 3.05.651.6, fixes Profile/PRL bug

sprint-htc-logo

It looks like the HTC One on Sprint is getting another OTA update, this time to 3.05.651.6, fixing that notorious bug that was preventing users from updating their Profiles or PRLs. This specific bug fix is all that the changelog officially lists, which means that other bugs users have reported might still be present.

According to Pocketables readers, these include:

  • WiFi always scanning for networks, even when the that option is turned off.
  • Shorter WiFi range, causing more frequent disconnects.
  • LTE not connecting.
  • SIM card error messages that persist, even after a supposed fix was rolled out.
  • Proximity sensor calibration issues.

I haven’t seen any reports of people actually getting this update in the wild yet, so be sure to keep us posted in the comments if and when you see this on your own HTC One. And, as always, please share your experiences with the update, including whether any of these additional bugs were fixed or – God forbid – new bugs were introduced.

[Sprint] Thanks, Ken!

I love Pocketables, how do I become a member? You guys do the best reviews, and give the best commentary. I have designed a Super Phone for HTC, and I would love to show it off to the world. Any Suggestions, on how I can land a meeting with HTC? I’ve been trying to connect with them for about 2 years now.

  • Just got the OTA. At work I used to struggle to get 4g, I’ve got 4 bars now. Can’t speak of WiFi as I haven’t had to use it yet.

    Reply
    • Do some speed tests and let us know how strong the data connection really is – I’m hesitant to put much stock in “bars,” simply because it’s so easy to make the software show you more than you really have.

Just got the OTA in Northern Texas. But I have a Phoenix area code, so not sure which would be the preference in regions on pushing this update out. Getting much better signal from my work, between 3-5 bars of 4g, whereas I was always switching from 4g to 3g yesterday. I’m not sure how to check whether WiFi is scanning or not, as I’m not at home.

Haven’t gotten the SIM card error in a few weeks, so I can’t really say much about that either. I was getting it every other day for about a month (magically went away…).

If I get any errors or new problems, I’ll update you all.

Sprint HTC One St Louis, MO. Just downloaded the software update. So far haven’t noticed any additional issues – or any changes at all, so seems to be a very minor update.

I bet this update is a way to prep for the KIT KAT update that is coming in two weeks. Seems like a large update for just a few updates. I mean complete roms come in weighing less than 249mb. Seems strange but I will wait for the 4.4.2 KITKAT update soon.

So, got the update here in Austin TX. What exactly was this supposed to fix? Now it’s worse! UGH. Knew I shouldn’t have updated my phone! Still not updating PRL correctly. When you cxcl the PRL update the device mgr stays on. Same with the profile update! And now I’m getting the loss of LTE when I didn’t before! OK so I ask again…”What is this supposed to fix?”

    UPDATER BEWARE!

OK Well then. After power cycling the phone at least a half dozen times, it seems to have come back to life! WOW! At this rate at least I hope it’s fixed?

I may have to find another phone if this keeps up!

Anyone got a Motorola StarTac they wanna sell? At least I know those work! ;-)

    Peace from Austin

why are some reporting updates of only 33+mb??

while some others, myself included, have a almost 250mb update waiting??

I think some of you had not gotten the original update back in December, that’s why it’s a larger update. For those of us who did get that update, it’s only about 33mb, since it’s just a fix.

Oh and…KitKat…why you no show up faster!? hehe

Just downloaded (although it was available this morning in central KY) and installed. So far, it doesn’t really seemed to have changed anything. My 4G speeds aren’t any better (or worse), and the SIM card error hasn’t shown up in a couple of weeks anyway. I was really hoping my 4G would connect at the office. It says it’s connected to 4G, but my transfer speeds are <300 Kbps.

I was waiting for someone to say that. MattR, since the update it seems like it takes longer to connect to the net. Period. Whether it’s 3g or 4g. Data seems slower. I’ll check the WiFi issues when I get home.

I was actually going to switch to Verizon this weekend so maybe I will hold off for a week and see. Anybody else actually experience significantly better call quality after the update?

I got my update here in FL on Friday 1-17. The issue I had was that afterwards, my phone stayed on roaming, no matter where I went. I had to go into Settings>System Updates and manually update my profile and PRL. After doing that, my phone finally got out of non-stop roaming. So keep that in mind everyone!

Horrible connectivity issues on Sprint network in the San Francisco Bay area before this update. Had full bars but no connectivity.

Now it connects until the phone overheats and shuts down. DL speeds improved on both 3g, and 4g but who cares if it kills the battery and overheats in 20 minutes?
