Is ASUS preparing to launch two new Chromebooks?

ASUS Chromebook leak

2014 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year for Chrome OS, with new hardware partners jumping on the bandwagon and lots of new devices incoming. ASUS is certainly not one to be left out of the party, as it looks like the Chinese manufacturer is preparing to release two new Chromebooks this year, following its earlier announcement of a new Chromebox.

According to leaked internal documents obtained by VR-Zone, ASUS will release two new Chromebooks – the ASUS C200 and ASUS C300 – later this year, possibly with 11.6-inch and 13-inch displays, respectively.

ASUS is already on target to launch a new Chromebox in March, which will be available in the US with either an Intel Celeron 2955U or Intel Celeron Core i3-4010U Haswell processor. Outside the US, a Core i7 model will also be available. The ASUS Chromebox will start at $179 in the US.

We don’t know what kind of pricing or specs we can expect from these two new Chromebooks from ASUS, but it’s possible that the Chromebox might provide some clues. If this is the case, we can expect decently-powered notebooks at a somewhat aggressive price. Until we know more, though, it’s all just speculation.
