Details finally emerge on ASUS’s $179 Haswell Chromebox

ASUS Chromebox

Although we’ve known for quite a while that an ASUS Chromebox was in the works, we haven’t really had any details about what it would look like, what kind of specs it would bring to the table, or how much it would cost. That changes today.

We now have details about two ASUS Chromeboxes that will be available in March, starting at $179. Both will be fanless and come with Intel’s new Haswell processors; the entry model will use a Celeron 2955U CPU and have 2GB of RAM, while the more premium version will come with an Intel Core i3-4010U and 4GB of RAM. Both will include Intel Integrated Graphics and a 16GB SSD.

Regarding connectivity, both will have an HDMI port and DisplayPort; Ethernet, four USB 3.0 ports, and an SD slot, along with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. Unfortunately for us Americans, ASUS says that a variant with an i7 processor will be available in select countries outside of North America.

Anyone planning on picking one of these bad boys up?
