ASUS Chromebox is the new bestselling desktop computer on Amazon

AUS Chromebox AmazonPreorders have finally started for the new ASUS Chromebox on Amazon, TigerDirect, and Newegg, starting at $179.99 with an expected shipping date at Amazon and TigerDirect of March 14 (Newegg has the shipping date set to March 17). Perhaps most notable here is that, even though the Chromebox isn’t even technically on sale yet – these are just preorders – it is already taking the spot for the number one bestselling desktop computer on Amazon.

The new ASUS Chromebox comes with a dual core Intel Celeron 2955U clocked at 1.4Ghz, a fanless design with 2GB RAM, a 16GB SSD, four USB 3.0 ports to hook up peripherals like a Chrome OS keyboard, which will be available separately from ASUS. Of course, there’s also an SD card reader, WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI out, and DisplayPort out.

This is all packed in a 4.9 by 4.9 inch box that weighs only 2.2 pounds and is 1.6 inches tall. In other words, this seems like a pretty sweet deal, especially for businesses who might want to deploy this thing widespread.

Who’s preordering?

[OMG! Chrome!]
