2013 HTC One will get HTC Sense 6.0 by the end of next month

HTC One 2013

The original 2013 version of the HTC One will receive an OTA update that includes HTC Sense 6.0 by the end of May, according to HTC executive Jason Mackenzie, who has been on a role lately when it comes to tweeting about updates.

Now, HTC has missed deadlines in the past, so I wouldn’t put too much stock into the time frame we have here. But if HTC is serious about winning back consumers, then perhaps there’s a glimmer of hope that things will happen on time this time around.

It’s also important to note that some features of Sense 6 won’t make it over to the older hardware. This will include Motion Launch gesture controls, since the older HTC One lacks some of the sensors that allow it to detect when the phone is being double tapped. Some of the nicer features will remain in tact, though, like the ability to more easily remove BlinkFeed, and the fact that many of its core applications are now standalone apps that can be updated through the Play Store.
