Tip: Find out when your HTC device will get an OTA update

Sense updates

HTC is finally starting to listen to its users and devoted fans. HTC executive Jason Mackenzie has had a long stint on Twitter, posting information about when upcoming updates would be released for HTC devices, but now the Taiwanese manufacturer has made things a bit more official.

In an effort to increase transparency and keep its customers more informed, HTC has launched a new website where you can check to see precisely where your device is on the update timeline.

HTC breaks down the update process into five stages: evaluation, development, integration, certification, and push to customer. Right now, it seems like HTC’s developers are hard at work getting HTC Sense 6.0 ready for all of HTC’s 2013 and 2014 lineup, although they are still working on getting a few devices updates to KitKat from Jelly Bean, as well. It currently looks like all US variants of the 2013 HTC One M7 are in the integration phase, except for T-Mobile’s.

Overall, this is a great resource for current HTC customers, as well as potential customers who are considering a possible HTC purchase in the near future. This adds an extra level of accountability, and – given HTC’s less-than-stellar track record – is very welcome now.
