Followup: T-Mobile is rolling out an official fix for group messaging on Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy GS5A few weeks ago, Paul explained how to fix group messaging on your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5. (Long story short: Get a new SIM card.) Luckily, for those users who haven’t had the time to get a new SIM card, or who just missed our suggestion, T-Mobile and Samsung are currently rolling out a fix right now.

Weighing in at 131.31MB, the software version is being bumped to G900TUVU1ANE5. The changelog only mentions fixing the “intermittently incoming SMS/MMS failure.”

Between today and June 10, users will be prompted to download and install the update, but you can also check right away by navigating to Settings > General > About device > Software update. The update is also available through Kies.

Standard warnings apply about the possibility of breaking root and waiting for your developers to incorporate this fix into their custom ROMs, if they haven’t already. In any case, it’s great to see T-Mobile and Samsung get a fix out – not everyone has time to get a new SIM card.
