Canadians can now get $20 of Google Play credit when purchasing a Chromecast … from Amazon

Amazon Chromecast deal

Here’s an interesting little tidbit for your full moon Friday the 13th. Consumers in Canada can now get $20 towards movies, music, and more on Google Play with the purchase of a Chromecast … from Amazon. This is an interesting move, as Amazon is increasingly one of Google’s biggest rivals, having its own app, music, book, and video stores to compete with everything Google offers through the Play Store. It is a likely possibility that offering so much money to use in Google Play will cannibalize on some sales Amazon could have kept for itself.

The deal itself is relatively straightforward: Canadians have until June 30 to purchase the Chromecast from Amazon, and users must redeem the offer after purchase by going to chromecast.com/offers. The dongle itself currently sells for CDN$ 39.00.

This is a nice way to get a little over half your money back, and is not a bad deal at all. Again, I’m just a little amused that it’s coming from Amazon, of all places. If you’re north of the US and decide to get in on this, check out the source link below.
