GPE HTC One M7 and other GPE devices getting OTA update to Android 4.4.3

HTC One M7 GPE updateThe wait for Android 4.4.3 is now over if you have a Google Play Edition device like the HTC One M7 or Samsung Galaxy S4.

The update only became available for most current Nexus devices yesterday, and we’ve also been getting reports that the Moto X started receiving the update today, too. In other words, a lot of different devices are getting the update all at once, and that’s just awesome. We love to see this, because this is exactly how an OTA update should look.

In all cases here, the changelog is disappointingly short, mentioning only security enhancements and various bug fixes. We shouldn’t discount the bug fixes, though, as a small subset of Android 4.4.2 users have long been plagued by camera focus issues, which is one of the bugs specifically addressed in this update. Additionally, users are reporting that a new phone and dialer app is included with the update that brings a much welcome update to the user interface.

If you are one of the lucky few to get notified of the update right away, be sure to let us know how you are liking it! If not, be patient – it’s on its way.
