HTC is working on an Android Wear smartwatch, and this could be what it looks like

htcwatch

According to infamous internet leaker evleaks, HTC is working on an Android Wear smartwatch of its own to compete with the likes of Samsung and LG.

It’s important to note that the artist render that appears above is actually a reproduction of a press image, not the original. There could be many reasons for this, but the most likely is that the original image could have compromised one of evleak‘s sources. However, that’s just speculation, and evleaks doesn’t go into any detail about that.

What’s important is that this image is faithful to the original hardware. The software, on the other hand, is something that evleaks had a little fun with, since Google doesn’t allow custom interfaces on Android Wear devices.

In any case, if this leak turns out to be legitimate (as they often are with evleaks), it looks like HTC is following in LG’s footsteps with a square watch, unlike the Moto 360. The bezel does look thinner than both the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch, and I do have to say that I like the metal band.

There is no word on pricing, specs, or availability, so all we can do at this point is admire the hardware.

Ooooo, aaaaahhhhh…
