Leaked HTC Volantis tablet could have 5GB RAM and 64-bit Tegra processor

volantis

Last month we reported on rumors that HTC could be working on a new Nexus tablet codenamed Volantis – which will perhaps be called the Nexus 9 at release – although we didn’t really have any other details to share quite yet. The only thing we could see from the information available then is that the tablet would feature front-facing speakers, similar to the HTC One M7 and One M8.

But today, famed leaker @evleaks is announcing some specs, and they sound spectacular. If he’s right, the HTC  Volantis will feature a silver aluminum unibody, 64-bit Tegra K1 (although HTC is currently testing it with an SD810), 5GB DDR3 RAM (this might change), an 8.9-inch screen with either 1680×1050 or 2560×1600 resolution, 64GB of internal memory, and a 5MP or 8MP 1080p back camera. Oh, and Boomsound of course.

A puzzling “leaked macro image” of the tablet was included in the tweet, showing half of a camera and some watermarks – one of which says “Android Silver OS Alpha 1.4.”

@evleaks says that earlier leaked renders of this tablet are “fake.”

If this is true, this looks like quite a beast of a tablet – and definitely a worthy successor to my 2013 Nexus 7. Would you be willing to take the plunge with an HTC Nexus tablet – the company’s second Nexus device?
