Among some of the more useful functions are the ability to test who the active user is, determine whether you have a mobile data connection, pass a user agent to an HTTP Get/Post, check NFC status, run a non-root shell and stop it from another action, and BT connected state (health, headset, a2dp).
It’s a rather impressive update, and you can read the complete release notes over here. If you’re not seeing it in your Play Store software updates list, just go to the Tasker entry and it should be updatable.
The Tasker Userguide, which is an unofficial Wiki, doesn’t appear to reflect any of the new changes yet, so get on that people.
On a side note, if you are ondering about Pocketables’s continuing Tasker coverage, here’s the status of it:
- I’m still learning in what limited free time I have.
- I haven’t come across projects that I felt were particularly up to a write up or I was capable of yet.
- What projects I have come up with I’ve generally found require root, or have an app available that does it with serious polish that I’m not able to deliver yet.
- We’ve had a few people offer to write contributing articles, and we’re still waiting on those. If you’d like to contribute, please contact us.
