Google News & Weather app gets striking visual update, now available in Play Store

Google News and Weather

Google’s News & Weather app, which has largely sat untouched for a few years now, has finally gotten a rather large update that brings it in line Google’s new(er) card-based UI.

The app normally comes with Nexus devices and other Android phones and tablets that are close to stock. Some early Sense devices also featured the app, but I don’t believe most modern HTC or Samsung devices include it at all.

According to Android Police, this 2.0 release is available now in the Play Store, which is to be expected considering Google has done the same for Gmail, Calendar, and even its Camera app, among other. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to locate it myself. If you’re like me, you can download and install it manually at the source link below, but if you do happen to stumble across it in the Play Store, be sure to post the link in the comments below.

In addition to the visual updates in the app itself, the widget has also gotten a nice update. Everything looks very Google Now-esque, and I have to say I am really digging it. What are your thoughts?
