New leaks point to Android 5.0 “Lion” and a 2014 Nexus 5

Lion

According to a new leak from EMT Leaks, the next Nexus phone might be called the Nexus 5 2014, instead of the Nexus 6 or Nexus X. Additionally, the latest version of Android that it will showcase – currently the Android L developer preview – will be called “Android 5.0 Lion.”

Although references to LMP have been spotted in Google source code, leading some to speculate that the next version of Android is Lemon Meringue Pie, “Lion” is not outside the realm of possibility, as Lion is actually another trademark of Nestle, just like KitKat is. (Not to mention Google also referred to KitKat internally as KLP – Key Lime Pie – up until KitKat was officially unveiled.)

The Nexus 5 2014 also seems very interesting, as it will supposedly feature a Snapdragon 805 chip, 3GB of RAM,  and a 12MP camera – this is definitely a step up from the Nexus 5.

Of course, this is all just a rumor and should be taken with the largest grain of salt you can find. But still, I can’t help but start salivating at all the new Nexus news. The end of October can’t get here fast enough!
