The sleuths over at TMoNews have recently uncovered two interesting new products on the horizon from T-Mobile: an LTE signal booster and an ASUS Cellspot router.
The LTE signal booster seems to look and function very similarly to T-Mobile’s existing Nextivity HSPA+ booster. According to images obtained by the T-Mobile fan site, it appears that there will be a window unit that picks up the LTE signal, and a secondary unit that you place strategically inside your home that will broadcast the LTE signal.
The ASUS Cellspot router is a bit more interesting, as T-Mobile hasn’t yet offered a product that uses your home broadband connection to create a mobile signal. This could obviously benefit those who don’t have a WiFi calling capable device, and who are in a coverage dead zone that doesn’t offer any T-Mobile coverage, period. The disadvantage, of course, is that you would be forced to have a high speed internet connection in order for this to function.
There’s no official word from T-Mobile on either product, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears open in case this gets released into the wild soon.
