Cincinnati finally gets covered with T-Mobile LTE

Cincinnati

I know that this little piece of news is yawn-worthy to most of the rest of the world, but for me, I’m insanely happy about it. My old stomping grounds – Cincinnati, Ohio – is finally officially covered with T-Mobile LTE, including these landmark areas:

Ever since T-Mobile started building out its LTE network, Cincinnati has been a thorn in the side of the carrier. The region had perhaps one of the most difficult spectrum crunches in the nation for T-Mobile to navigate, and it was only through LTE on band 2 – 1900MHz – that T-Mobile was able to accomplish what it did. (Darn you, Cincinnati Bell, for hogging all the AWS spectrum!)

T-Mobile is, of course, working on upgrading its entire 2G footprint to LTE, which it expects to have largely complete by mid-2015. And unlike certain other carriers (Sprint, ahem), it seems to be staying on track.
