HTC Desire Eye will be here before the holidays with a 13MP front facing camera

HTC Desire Eye

HTC announced yesterday a new phone at its “Double Exposure” event in New York. The HTC Desire Eye is being billed as the “ultimate selfie phone,” with a 13MP front facing camera that includes a BSI senor, F/2.2, 22mm lens, and two tone LED flash. Yes, that is 13MP – not 1.3MP.

This new flagship phone for HTC’s mid-range Desire line also has a back camera with the exact same resolution and specs as the front. It also includes a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD slot expandable to 128GB, a 2,400 mAh battery, and three microphones with noise cancellation.

HTC has chosen AT&T to be its “exclusive launch partner” in the US, although this device is expected to be available for other carriers in other areas of the word, as well.  While exact pricing and dates haven’t yet been announced, with these specs I’d expect it to sell in the $100-$200 range (probably around $150). AT&T has confirmed it will be available in time for the holidays.

Is this enough to make any of you give the Desire line a second look? I have to say, I am mightily impressed by that camera – even if I prefer not to take many selfies!
