Wall Street Journal reports that Nexus 6 is coming this month, so it’s gotta be true

nexus-logoLast last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google plans to release the Nexus 6 by Motorola later this month. The Wall Street Journal is generally spot on when it reports on items such as these, so this gives me high confidence that the device is indeed coming soon.

According to the report, the phone will feature a 5.9-inch screen and ship with Android L, an updated version of Android that Google will release at the same time. Apparently 24% of the market now uses similarly-sized phablets, so Google and Motorola will both try to capitalize on the success of this particular segment. The Nexus 6 will also include a Snapdragon 805 and 3GB RAM.

According to people familiar with Google’s plans for the device, it is trying to specifically rival the iPhone 6 Plus on display quality, but at a lower price point. Google will, of course, also be competing against Samsung’s phablet devices, but Google wins more when people choose Android over iOS.
