I bought one. I waited a long time for it to arrive, but it finally did. And I love it.
In fact, I don’t know how I’ve lived without it for so long! I can’t tell you how convenient it is to view all of my notifications on my wrist, and to dismiss the ones I don’t need any longer – and to have those notification dismissals sync to my phone. Gone are the days of setting my phone down for an hour and coming back to 50 notifications, some of which I took care of already on my tablet or computer, but which still appear on my phone. It’s wonderful.
I love getting in my car, having my phone connect to the Bluetooth automatically, telling my watch to play music, and my phone playing music right away over my car speakers. I love controlling the music – skipping, pausing, etc. – on my wrist, connected to my phone, connected to my car.
I love seeing who is calling me before taking my phone out of my pocket. I love answering the call on my wrist, so that I no longer miss calls. (With a phone as bulky as the Nexus 6, it can take a long time to get the phone out of my pocket – sometimes too long, resulting in missed calls!)
I love seeing turn-by-turn navigation directions on my wrist.
I just love it. And I’m not sure how I waited this long without Android Wear. Going forward, it’s going to be an essential part of my daily tech routine. It doesn’t feel beta at all, and my experience has been largely stable, with only a few hiccups here or there.
Oh, and the battery life? Not a problem at all for me. I keep the display on 24/7, I constantly interact with my watch, and I set it on the charging cradle every night before bed with over 50% of my battery left. Every time. I’m not sure what other people are doing who constantly can’t make it through a day, but I find it very adequate.
What about you? Do you have an Android Wear watch? Are you in love with yours as much as I am with mine? Let me know in the comments!
