Tales from the bowels of CES 2015: Panasonic is really giving haircuts, and no one loves HTC

Panasonic grooming

Yesterday was press day at CES 2015, and Paul and I attended our fair share of press conferences – that’s for sure. Today, we both took to the floor, and so far it’s pretty much what I expected: It’s pretty much the same as last year.

There are a ton of iPhone cases, screen protectors, cases, wireless speakers, cases, headphones, cases, TVs, and cases. But I did notice a few interesting things so far.

First, Panasonic really is giving out free haircuts in its booth. This was announced during the terrible Panasonic press conference I attended yesterday, but I didn’t quite believe that it was actually going to happen. Something about new, high tech razors, or something.

Second, I happened to stumble upon the HTC booth – and it was completely empty. It wasn’t due to lack of people at CES; I could barely squeeze through the LG and Panasonic booths to get to the HTC booth. It just seems like not that many people are interested in what HTC currently has on offer, and that does, admittedly, make me a little sad.

HTC is hawking its RE camera, which I’ve kept with me all conference long so far, and I hope it will get a bit more attention by the end of the show. C’est la vie.
