Nexus 6 might not get WiFi calling in the next upgrade, but VoLTE looks possible

askdes

Currently there are three main things that practically all T-Mobile customers who own a Google Nexus 6 by Motorola want in the next OTA update: (1) WiFi calling; (2) VoLTE; and (3) Band 12 compatibility. T-Mobile has promised all of these at one time or another, and most indications from the fourth-place carrier seem to indicate that all of these features will roll out before the end of the first quarter. Since it’s already in the latter part of February, most people assumed that all three of these would come in a single OTA update.

Hold on – not so fast.

According to T-Mobile’s “Sr. Product Guy” and “Official Phone Guru,” these three features might not come all at once. In fact, it looks like VoLTE on the Nexus 6 is most likely to appear in the next OTA:

Personally, I’ve been waiting on WiFi calling for so freakin’ long and was really hoping that it would show up soon. Still, if all of these features really appear before the end of Q1, then that gives us until the end of March. It’s certainly possible that multiple OTAs could come in such a short time; it’s definitely not unprecedented.

In any case, which feature are you waiting for? Is this good or bad news for you? Let us know below!
